Streaks and streak freezes

Solve the Daily every day and your streak grows. Miss one and a freeze can cover it. Here's exactly how it works.

How a streak grows

Your streak counts the days in a row you've solved the Daily. Solve today's puzzle and the flame on the Today tab grows by one ("Day 12."). Campaign puzzles are fun, but it's the Daily that keeps the streak going.

Days follow your own clock: a new day starts at your local midnight. If you travel, crossing time zones doesn't break your streak on its own. Spellhunt remembers where you last solved and allows for the shift.

Milestones

Three streaks get a little ceremony and a badge on your profile:

• 7 days: "One week."
• 30 days: "A whole month."
• 100 days: "100 days. Genuinely impressive."

When you miss a day

The next time you open Spellhunt, it checks for days you missed. If you have a streak freeze, one is used for each missed day, automatically, and you see "Streak protected. Freeze used." Your streak carries on as if you'd played.

If you have no freeze left, the streak resets and today becomes day 1. The otter's line for that moment is "Day 1. Everyone has a day 1." It's true.

Streak freezes

A freeze is a one-day pass for your streak. You can hold up to two at a time. The ways to get one:

• Invite a friend. The first time you become friends through an invite link, you both get a freeze. See playing with friends.
• Spellhunt Plus. Plus members get one free freeze each week. See what Plus includes.

Freezes are used for you, so there's nothing to remember and nothing to tap. Your streak itself is always on the Today tab, and on the Home Screen widget if you add one.

Streak repair

Missed a day with no freeze? For a short while afterward, Today may show a "Missed a day?" card. Repair the day you missed for 300 coins and your streak carries on. You can repair a day from the last three days, and you get one repair every 30 days.

Freezes always come first. A repair is for the day a freeze couldn't cover.

A gentle reminder

After your first puzzle, Spellhunt asks whether you'd like one reminder in the evening if today's puzzle is still waiting. If you say yes and your streak is three days or more, you'll get at most one notification a day, around 7:30 in the evening your time, and only if you haven't solved the Daily yet. Nothing else. You can turn it off any time in the iPhone Settings app under Notifications.

Keeping your streak on a new phone

Sign in with Apple and your streak, freezes and progress sync to your account, so a new iPhone or your iPad picks up where you left off. If you've been playing as a guest, sign in on the device you've been using first: your guest progress moves into your account.

Streak questions

Does Relax mode affect my streak?

No. Relax mode only hides timers and rankings. Solving the Daily in Relax mode counts the same.

I lost my streak because of a problem on your side. Can you help?
